Do you know the environmental impact of dark or black T-shirts?
The production of a T-shirt involves obtaining raw materials, dyeing, and assembling the garment. Dyeing is particularly resource-intensive, consuming large amounts of energy, steam, water, and dyes.
15 to 30 grams of dyes is usually required to dye every T-shirt made of cotton to a dark or black color; 20-25% of which is released as wastewater. Plus, large amounts of water is needed to wash after dyeing the fabric to a dark or black colour.
A T-shirt can use up to 120 liters of water per wear, just from dyeing alone.
